Building upon the foundational Model Context Protocol (MCP), the new hardware standard defines bidirectional control schema, safety interlocks, and real-time telemetry streaming formats. This enables Claude agents to execute precision laboratory procedures and industrial operations securely.

By open-sourcing the specification, Anthropic aims to accelerate interoperability between frontier AI foundation models and physical robotics systems across manufacturing and scientific research.
